Hey im a newbie to this

but quick question for you guys

Okay here it goes:

Lately my dev. have been talking about the Holy Spirit (HS) and how God uses the H.S. to work through us and through saints (my friends just got saved... which is sweet when he told me that he was just filled with the H.S. when he got saved!!)

But so my question is: I have been doing my devotions and just keeping on track and just living it for God... but how come i dont feel him right there infront of me?

Like friday night the H.S. talked through me to my friend to hang in and everything will be okay but on a day to day basis i dont feel as if God is right there guiding me, but yet i allow him to in everything i do.

Just off the top of my head, I think a key factor is to keep our minds focused on Jesus. Like when you were talking to your friend, you were focused on the Lord. When you are busy going about life, is your mind always on other things, or are you able to keep Him in your thoughts as you go about your business? Music really helps me in that area. Also, morning prayer is important to me. It seems like I can focus on Jesus much more throughout the day when I start my day with prayer, as well as Bible reading. (Instead of at the end of the day.) Are you actually reading the Word, or a book of devotions? You may want to try to read the Bible first and foremost, then use the devotional as a supplement.

When you pray, try asking the Lord to help you see Him in everything you do and see, to hear him in everything you hear and say, to feel Him in everything you feel and touch. I do that and it seems to make a difference in my day. Also, ask Him to let others see Him in everything you do and say. Keep in mind throughout the day that you represent Him.

How long have you been walking with the Lord? Your walk will become stronger with time and you'll be more in tune with Him the more you learn to recognize His voice. Keep trusting Him. Keep listening.

You're welcome.

If you have just turned your life over to Jesus, you are really doing great. Walking with the Lord is a journey that you will be on for the rest of your life, and you will never stop growing and learning.

Have you found a good, Bible believing/teaching church?

I've grown up in the church - my parents raised me in a Christian "environment," so for my entire life, I've always considered myself to be a Christian. As I grew up, I started feeling like I was getting further away from God and I couldn't really feel His presence in my life. I didn't feel welcomed in my church and I lost interest in going. I talked to my mom about it and found out that she felt the same way. We had been attending the same Lutheran church since I was 3, but we decided to start looking for a new church that might help us both to grow in our faith. We were invited to attend a Bible-based, "spirit filled" church by our neighbors... and it's truly been an awesome experience. Every time I enter the church, I can feel the Holy Spirit's amazing presence renewing me in my faith walk, and I continue to feel that presence all throughout my week.
I don't have anything against churches that don't call themselves "spirit filled," but I personally have noticed the difference in my life. I would definitely recommend that you check one out sometime.

And congratulations on accepting Christ into your life... I'll be praying for you!

LOL! I thought you were questioning about high school stuff.

Anyway, a guy once told me that sometimes God doesn't allow Him to be felt in some times when life gets hard because He'll try to see if you're going to hold on to Him. It's like a test of how long can you live in the desert.

I like your reasoning, Drey, but I don't think of it as God testing us when we can't feel his presence, but rather Him training us to seek Him. I'm not disagreeing; I'm just putting my two cents in.

No problem. Very well said.
