I'm so excited to share this with you all. This will be long, just warning you, but I hope you all read it through and then join us!

I attended my first Jeremy Camp concert this past February (the 6th to be exact). It was absolutely a night that I will never forget. I cried tears of joy half the night because I could just feel God's presence all around me. It was awesome! I was so thankful to have Jeremy up there ministering to us so that I could experience that joy! I left the concert with this amazing fire inside....a fire to do something, but I didn't know what. Then about a week later I ran across pictures of another Team Camper, Krystal, and sent her a message just to compliment her pictures. She sent me this long email back with a review of her concert (Feb 9th) and she said the same thing...she had this fire inside her to do something, but what? The next day she emailed me with this awesome idea. She wanted to have a day of prayer and fasting for Jeremy's ministry. Leigh had already started an awesome movement of people fasting and praying for this ministry daily. Krystal just wanted to take it one step further and have us dedicate an entire day to praying together in our separate corners of the world. I of course helped her get the ball rolling on this and got the word out as much as possible, and on February 17th, people all around the world spent the day in prayer and fasting for this ministry. I felt God moving in BIG ways that day, and others that I talked to said the same thing! Krystal and I even had the same exact experience while listening to one of J's songs that day! It was awesome. So then Leigh steps in and says that we need to include Melissa in a big way in that day. We absolutely agreed and decided that we should make the event on February 5th every year (the day that Melissa left us to be with Jesus). Then came the issue of the name...at this point our name was the Official Day of Prayer, Fasting, and Worship in Honor of Jeremy Camp's Ministry and in Loving Memory of Melissa Camp....and that's when Laura stepped in with the name Because of One. HOW PERFECT! It's because of Melissa that we have this AWESOME ministry through Jeremy.

Melissa's dying hope was that "If just one person came to know Jesus through my story, then it would all be worth it." So please join us on February 5th every year as we come together to lift up this ministry that has brought us so many blessings and show just how many thousands of lives have been changed, all Because of One!

Hey, I just had an idea. You know how we can ask Jeremy questions now? Well, maybe you could copy your post (above) to him, and ask him if he has any suggestions on how we could use this day of fasting and prayer. Well, obviously it would be used to pray that more souls come to the Truth, but maybe Jeremy would have some ideas on what we could do to further reach more people with it, and more specific prayer requests we could include.

Well shoot Laura, you spoiled it hehe....I'm just kidding!!! Thanks for your kind words though! I don't know why God is pushing me so hard to run with this because it wasn't my idea in the first place, but I really feel that He is so I have to follow His lead.

And as Laura said, we do have a M/S page in the works :) So excited! Due to some technical issues and planning issues, it won't be accessible for a few weeks, but I will definitely let you all know when it is up and running :)

Awww thanks :) I get it from my dad...he's a graphic designer....and my brother builds websites for a living, so I learned a lot from him as well....I actually was a semi-professional website designer for a while. I love doing that stuff :)

I wish i had the opportunity to meet Melissa. I feel like I know Melissa through Jeremy's music. His tender heart for God shines through time after time in his songs and reflects an emotional anthem of praise that glorifies God. No matter where God takes him, he continues to "walk by faith."
I can't wait to see how God uses this for His glory! May we unite as ONE, Because of One light that continues to shine on! IN Prayer Fasting, and Worship we will unite!

Yeah! That has got to happen someday!! You know what we should do? We should ALL start saving now for that "someday". Like maybe get a jar and we start saving all our dimes, just to get us a start. Then if we are finally able to do it in 3 years, we'll have quite a bit of a head start on the financial part. Anyone want to give that some thought? What do you all think? I hear ya there Aaron! Although, I used to have my change box out in the open and a while back, I stuck it in my desk drawer. Yesterday I was cleaning and found some change, so I was trying to remember where I put the box....it's easy to save up when you can't even remember where it is :) So I definitely recommend putting it in a place you don't look often, but will remember when need be :)

They think that fasting means not eating and if they don't want to not eat, or can't for medical reasons, then they assume they can't participate. Don't want anyone to feel that way!

fasting is about the SACRIFICE...the depriving of the flesh to press in more earnestly to the Lord. i've fasted pepsi before....i've known people that have fasted french fries and even tv! with all of our money/food issues when matthew was younger, fasting FOOD is no big deal to me anymore, so i've had to be creative with finding ways to fast. the best way is to pray & ask God how HE wants you to fast (although, beware, because He usually goes to the core! lol, that pepsi fast was NOT a fun one! hahah) - it's different for everyone, and really helps you to press in a little more because you KNOW you're doing it the way God wants you to do it.

Hey we've all been through it! Not lame at all! I've always been the one to take pics so I didn't have to be IN them. I just got over mine last year if it makes you feel better! I think I've told you about it actually...not sure. It was at Red Letter Rockfest in Snyder during Seventh Day Slumber's set. We were having an altar call & I was so uncomfortable cause I was up front with the photographers & videographers. But Joseph started talking to us about humbling ourselves before God and letting go of anything that was keeping us from seeking him with everything we had at that moment. I let it go & started just bawling my eyes out! It was beautiful! Ever since then, I've been in more pictures & I look at myself in the mirror less than I used to. It still comes back to haunt me every now and then (you kinda have to accept that). But it's easier to fight it now instead of giving into it.

Anyways, all that to say I'm proud of you for taking that step :)

i SO feel your pain on that one! we went to The Call San Diego last year (11-1-08), and we were able to be down on the field, front & center. which was AMAZING!!!! after a couple hours in, i noticed that they had the camera crane doobobs - two of them - set up not far from where we were & that the operators kept scanning the field (they did the seats, too, but there weren't many people in the seats, so...most of the camera time was spent on the field). everytime i saw it getting ready to go up to find a new angle, i did ye olde duck & cover (face down to pray....which...was good, because i WAS praying, but...it was bad, because it took the CAMERA to get me face down....i was on my face many times throughout the day, most of them in obedience to God TELLING me to get on my face, but...there were times that it was an avoid-the-camera tactic, so...my focus wasn't where it was supposed to be!). i thought i had successfully dodged the camera, but i came home to find out from my friends who had watched snippets of it throughout the day (it was livestreamed on godtv) that i was on tv SEVERAL times. :S i wanted to puke.

anyway...i've got a couple other interesting stories about God's sense of humor, but...they're totally not related to this, so....i'll save them for another time. for now....i'm in denial that my picture is anywhere! lol

Okay, so this morning, I was doing my devotional...and the title was God-Centered Ministry. =] The Scripture was from Philippians 1..two verses really stuck out to me..

"For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ wil be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death." vs. 19-20

I was like wow! Not only do I want that to be true in my life,but I want it to continue to be true in J's life as well. It's so amazing that God gives us these things when we are seeking Him. Jesus is so good!!! I'm liftiing all you guys up today too, brothers and sisters! I love you all! And remember, when your on your face, you are in His! :D

I was driving to school this morning when the radio DJ said he had some serious news about Jeremy. I, as a camper, started freaking out and wondering what the news was and it was the announcer reminding us to pray for J today because of what today is...it really hit me what this DJ had to say about the whole thing. And it was also such a blessing to hear him remind all of the listeners about how God has restored J and blessed him. It REALLY touched me and I began to pray in the car, not only for Jeremy, but it was an amazing door being opened for people to hear about his amazing testemony.

God is always faithful. :)

I was thinking today about how Jeremy must feel today. In one way, it must seem like another lifetime ago that Melissa passed away. He's been very blessed with Adie and the girls, he's been launched into a ministry/career that really makes a difference in people's lives, and it's been 9 years today. On the other hand, we all know how time flies and it could seem like the blink of an eye since she died.

In either case, I'm sure he appreciates our prayers of support on this day. God bless all of you who are praying/fasting!

I've been thinking a lot today about how when she died, God told him to stand up and worship. He didn't know why or how he could possibly do it, but he did it out of simple obedience for God. I think about all the times that I've done things simply out of obedience for God. On one hand, it's definitely not enough times! But on the other hand, this ministry is what it is today because I was obedient! I will never NOT credit Krystal for being the one who started this ministry & when we first began, I spent many sleepless nights with God giving me ideas for this ministry and what we could do. At first I remember actually telling Him to stop. It was not my idea. It was not my thing to take over. But I finally decided that to make this all for God's glory, I would have to be obedient to Him and do what He told me. In the weeks that followed, we officially became Because of One thanks to Laura, and we made it on February 5th to honor Melissa, as per Leigh's suggestion! To this day, He still gives me ideas every now and then for how to make this ministry grow, and I plan to do whatever He says, but I want you guys to know that without you as partners in this ministry it'd be nothing! I'm blown away by what it has become since last year and even more excited to see where we're at next year and in the years beyond that! God bless you guys and thank you for joining us in prayer and fasting today! :D

Wow you guys! God is so good! When I got home from Kids Club I was in prayer just feeling like something was missing from today....something more needed to be done or said or, I just didn't know what. I prayed that God reveal it to me and He did it in a MIGHTY way!

Now I can go to bed feeling totally refreshed (albeit slightly hungry :p)! Today's been amazing! I pray that J felt the power of our prayers upon him all day!

I ended up having to work yesterday and had to take off Wednesday instead- because there were people already scheduled off on Thursday. Wednesday was my soak up God day and giving thanks for this ministry that God brought about thru Melissa. :) God even showed His love w/ some snow flurries and guess what my scripture in my devotion was Psalm 51:6....and read on to verse 7 "...wash me, and I will be whiter than snow." It all goes back to my prayer of surrender in "Prayer & Praise." Then at work Thursday I caught myself humming and began to listen to what i was humming (I'm not one to hum especially at work:D)and it was "Jesus Paid It All"-

White as snow"
I love how the Holy Spirit surfaces messages. I'm really surprised and disappointed in me that I hadn't thought about that song w/ that scripture the day before, but it was there in my memory and the Holy Spirit brought it to the surface confirming God's word once again. It's so beautiful how the Holy Spirit just takes control and gently embraces us. God amazes me!!! Then again it's okay I didn't remember because I know this is how God chose to show me His power in my life. He is an AWESOME God!:cool:

Ok here it is....

We have tried to come up with ideas to expand Because of One the past couple years, but nothing has stuck, or we always hit a dead end in our plans. I have to be honest, this year I almost threw in the towel altogether! I just wasn't feeling the passion I used to for this ministry. I felt like I was doing it NO justice, that it wasn't becoming the vision I felt God had in mind for it, and that I could never make it into what He wanted it to be.

Then church happened.

During EVERY service at church, we ALWAYS start with a moment of silence, then go into a huge, extensive prayer. We pray for the sick, we pray for the hurting, we pray for other nations....

As we began our moment of silence this past Sunday, I asked God to lead me this week as I prepare for Because of One. I asked him to show me what HE wants it to become. Then as we began our prayers for the sick, the hurting, then other nations, specifically Haiti....it hit me....

The whole premise behind Because of One is NOT to pray for the band & crew once a year. But right now that's all we do! While that is an important part & it actually is what got the whole thing started, it's about more than that. It's about changing lives & bringing people closer to God. I started thinking back to our first Day of Prayer & Fasting. I began by praying for Jeremy & the crew, then God led me to start praying for people I didn't even know! It was crazy!

With that in mind, I have decided to add a little something to Because of One. In addition to our Day of Prayer & Fasting for Jeremy's Ministry, we will now also have a Day of Prayer & Service on August 5th (exactly 6 months in between the Day of Prayer & Fasting). I think we all just need to take a day & devote ourselves to helping someone in need. I'm not going to tell you how to do it, or where to do it. And it's not something you have to devote an ENTIRE day to. That will be up to you. But I just think it's important that we actually get out in the world & start doing more. That's what Because of One is all about! :) And of course, not everyone will be able to get out that day, so that's where the prayer comes in. If you can't serve that day, then pray for those that are serving. Pray for those who are in need of service. I'm VERY excited to see what could happen with this!!!

And that's not all!!!!......

Because of One now has a BRAND NEW WEBSITE! :) We will still be on MySpace & Facebook, but we really needed ONE place where EVERYONE could come! On the new site, there is a message board for everyone to share with each other & get to know one another. So check it out & as always, I'd love to hear any ideas you guys might have :)

If you are participating in tomorrow's prayer and fasting day and need some prayer ideas, here are some that I came up with:

As J mentioned in the the live stream back in November...some things to pray about for him specifically is wisdom for him and safety for his girls.

I would add safety for all of them as they travel.

tomorrow there is a concert in Ft Myers, Fl: good concert, God to work in and through everyone performing, that concert-goers be open to the prompting of the Spirit (especially if they don't have Jesus as Savior yet).

Remember to pray the Bible. Some verses by category:

Pray the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) other verses on armor/protection: 2 Corinthians 6:7; Isaiah 59:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:8; Hebrews 10:38, Hebrews 11:1,6; Isaiah 52:7, Isaiah 58:8, Isaiah 61:10; Psalm 5:12, Psalm 51:6; Revelation 1:16; Romans 13:12, Romans 13:14

Pray for continued Humility: Zephaniah 2:3, Ephesians 4:2, Philippians 2:3, Colossians 3:12, James 4:10

Also make sure that you have righted yourself before God as you begin praying/fasting.

And as far as the fasting goes, remember, it doesn't have to be food! I usually do food, but I'm going to do a media fast this year (with the exception of email, due to work). It's gotta be something that YOU feel you need to give up for a day. It can be just about anything. I don't want anyone feeling forced to put themselves in medical danger for this!!!

Here's a prayer I saw in my 1 year Bible: Praying through the Bible book: Dear God, when I try to do things by myself, I am easily overwhelmed. Sometimes I'm tempted to give up because I am so tired. Give me the wisdom to listen to the wise counsel of others as Moses did. Thank you for always hearing me and for having all the answers even before I know what questions to ask! Help me to share my burden with others and to stop trying to do it all alone.

I had a great day as well! It was strange since I was out most of the day (the past two years I was at home & able to FULLY focus on the ministry)....but still such a blessing! I started by watching the recent F&F episode Thursday night before bed. I like to watch that just to remind myself why we're doing this....and even though I've watched it several times, my eyes were opened to things I'd missed before! And at midnight on Friday (well, today technically), I put in J's live CD & listened to it before bed, really soaking in his lyrics & "preaching".

SO excited about the new Day of Prayer & Service! Gotta start planning stuff for that soon!
