Football (soccer) is the way forward, my team the mighty motherwell fc just finished 3rd in the lg (last game is tomorrow) so we're into the eufa cup qualifications for next season woohoo. Its the first time in 13 years we've gotten european football!

I also follw glasgow warriors rugby league team (rugby is a much more manly entertaining sport than american football ;-) )

I had the chance to learn baseball. But I already forgot some of the rules and how to play the thing. :D

Every time I go to a sports shop. I usually try wearing the gloves, the baseball ball and the bat. Sigh... I miss the chance to really learn how the game works.

NHL fan for years. Love the fast action hard hitting skilled pro players. I play in a league myself but no where near the NHL level. I have a full time job and bills to pay. I can't afford to get hurt. Thank goodness for non checking leagues. "Go Wings" My prediction............best of seven NHL Stanley Cup Finals. Detriot Red Wings win four games to two over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Peace !! E.

I know very little about basketball and have even less interest. It was weird- as a kid, the very first time I was introduced to basketball, I developed a dislike for it. No biggie- to each his own, I suppose.

I don't know too. I disliked basketball in the past but our P.E. teacher introduced me to it. I was forced to play to be able to pass the class. :D But the game grew on me but not really like very into it. :)

F1 Monaco today. This is probably the most tradition laden Formula One race- its also the most boring, but can also be quite interesting, There's nearly no opportunity for overtaking, but watching the drivers blow the chicanes is pretty entertaining!;)

Meet Euan -- he's from Scotland. Shinty is a game I've never heard of, and I'll have to familiarize myself with Australian Rules Football (Euan, is that more like soccer or American football?). And hurling is an odd Scottish game where you basically throw telephone poles to see who can throw it the farthest.

Okay, so they're not actually telephone poles, but they're almost that long.

you were close on some parts mr steve.

cabre tossing is what you are thinking of. Hurling is an irish sport played with sticks.

Shinty is a brutal sport not unlike hockey in some ways but you can have the ball off the ground as high as you like. wikipedia will tell you better lol.

Aussie rules is a bit of both american f and soccer combined which makes it interesting.

Hockey is pretty much the best sport ever. Ice hockey is my favorite, followed closely by roller hockey...not so much into field hockey though. I actually just got done with my 2nd roller hockey game in 2 days.

The cabre toss. I knew something wasn't sounding right.

Hurling.... That's not the game where you've got a stone on ice, is it?

Okay, I was watching YouTube vids, and I do believe I have found the manliest sport ever:

Sambo.

Don't believe me? Go to YouTube and search for Human Weapon, Sambo. You should see a number of vids put up by the History Channel, marked Parts 1 thru 5. Watch them in sequence.

Insanity, gentlemen.

That is brutal.

Did you ever watch that show Fight Quest on Discovery Channel. There was some brutal forms of fighting there too...I remember one where they basically just beat each other with sticks.

I think that's called eskrima (sp?). It's a Filipino fighting style -- they cover that on Human Weapon, too.

And no, I've never seen Fight Quest. I don't have cable or satellite. The only reason I know about Human Weapon is because I caught one episode (Sambo) and part of another (Kung Fu) while on vacation in Missouri. I was waiting for a friend, and flipped to the History Channel. Loved the show.

We've got a new toy that allows us to convert VHS to DVD, so I might be able to help you out with some vids.

If I ever get a chance to get the bloody thing hooked up. The software is ready to go- I need to make room for the hardware and the (small) RCA to USB interface.

F1 Hungary today (yesterday, I think, to European readers). I think F1 is the most civilized motorsport run on four wheels today.
