That was VERY inspiring! We never really know what effect kindness will have on a person. I will remember this one! Thank you, Leigh!

Thanks for sharing that! Out at the camp that I work at..I would worked with school groups that would come..we would have campfire and we would tell them a story hoping to change their view on life and the view of everyone around them. Here is a story that I would share with them.

Once a man was walking along a beach. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. Off in the distance he could see a person going back and forth between the surf's edge and and the beach. Back and forth this person went. As the man approached he could see that there were hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand as the result of the natural action of the tide.

The man was stuck by the the apparent futility of the task. There were far too many starfish. Many of them were sure to perish. As he approached the person continued the task of picking up starfish one by one and throwing them into the surf.

As he came up to the person he said, "You must be crazy. There are thousands of miles of beach covered with starfish. You can't possibly make a difference." The person looked at the man. He then stooped down and pick up one more starfish and threw it back into the ocean. He turned back to the man and said, "It sure made a difference to that one!"

Sometimes in life we go on our ways during the day and not even knowing what the person right next to you is going through. Sometimes the simplest smile or hello could change the life of someone.

I challenge everyone that is reading this, to tell someone hello and just to smile at someone that you would never have acknowledge before

A Smile or a Hello can go along way!!

Thanks for posting that Aaron! I love it!

I have a little story of my own....in student teaching I had an AMAZING class....I loved each and every one of my students! But there was of course "that one"....the one that gives you trouble from day one...as much as you shouldn't "favor" students, I felt that I needed to give this boy some extra attention...well at the end of every day, as the students leave, they each give me a hug. This boy was very against that, but he was willing to give me a high five. I tried several times to get him to budge, but he never did. Then on my last day, I said my goodbyes and opened the door...they went out one by one, hugging me on their way out...then it was his turn....I lifted my hand to give him a high five and he hugged me so hard he pushed me all the way across the hall!!!! It was the greatest feeling!!

And I had another little boy in that class who has a terrible story of a broken family, but he always came in with a huge smile on his face and gave me a big hug every morning and he was my big helper in everything! You wouldn't even know by looking at him all the terrible things he'd been through! One day we were outside waiting in the parent pickup line and he came up to me and hugged me and then he goes "Miss Williams...do you know who thinks you're special?" I said "Who?" and he said "Me and God"....I have to say I'm so glad I was wearing sunglasses that day because I was fighting back tears!!!!

Knowing that you've made a difference in a child's life is the most amazing feeling! Hmmmm...is it any wonder why I'm a teacher? Hehe
