Good job, Chris!

Did you like it better long or short? I vote for the short.

LOL, I was wondering when this thread was going to resurrected on here. And I would say I like it better short.

There's no need to wonder as long as I'm around.

Actually, either length looked pretty good to me. After all, the Highlander had many different lengths.

Okay, so this one needs some explanation for the new folks...

My name is Labby. On the OB, I always used rather interesting photos for my avatar. One, in particular, was particularly interesting:

Of course, it wasn't always that long. In high school, I used to shave my head:

Anyway, my hair was mostly confined to a ponytail:

But people started suggesting what I do with it. Some said a mohawk, others said to dye it bright green. Someone somewhere along the line got the (very, VERY WRONG) idea that a mullet would be cool.

Eventually, though, I did cut it. I didn't tell anyone; I just went and did it...

That was taken several weeks ago -- about a year after the Great Chop. There have been a few haircuts in between (including a makeover which included me and three girls at 1:30 am). And now it's time for me to get my hair cut again.

And no, I'm not getting a mohawk.

My friend cut my hair again this weekend, so it looked good for when I preached Sunday morning. So now I have manageable hair again.

And no, it's not a mohawk.

:DI always cut Dan and Ben's hair. If you ever want a free haircut, just get in line. We do it once every 3 weeks or so. :D

Steve, how did the preaching go?

They didn't chase me out of the church, so I think it went well.

Nah, it went great. First service was a little rocky, but that was because I was still highly agitated from work (I don't usually work Saturday nights, but my relief auditor was out of town. And on this night Murphy struck big-time -- noise complaints, a completely non-responsive guest, and I got off work an hour late), and was still trying to pull my thoughts together.

Second service, though, was great. I was focused, got a lot of laughs, and then socked them in the gut with emotional stuff.

I love doing that.

It would be cool if we could hear your preaching. I bet it's awesome.

I can barely even speak to Dan when I'm wound up from a rough day of daycare. I cannot imagine how you could preach following a night like that. God was with you, that's for sure!

And you've just hit the lesson of the sermon:

Life stinks, but God is with it.

I talked about Job. And Jeremy and Melissa.

That sounds AWESOME! I'm sure it was inspiring...and funny. :) Our pastor uses humor a lot in his sermons and it just really helps me take in and remember the message.

My youth group remembers my sermons partly because of the humor.

This was originally titled "It Could Always Suck More." They remember it.

They'll also tell you to be very careful if I bring a bag with me. Last time I did that it had a pack of Marlboros, a pack of condoms, and a bottle of scotch.

No, I didn't pass them out, and the bag never left my possession all night.

Ahhh that bag is exactly what the average rider at the qmu consists of (gig venue i used to do security at)

I can imagine you felt weird buying those items, heh? Sounds like a lesson that the kids would never forget. Our pastor uses "props" a lot, too. It's amazing how things like that help the brain to hold on to the words so much more. (Yes, I'm a "visual/hands on learner".)

It was even weirder for the gal whose register I went through at the store: she's one of our youth leaders.

Of course, I had to go to a liquor store for the scotch. I've still got it, somewhere. The cigarettes I gave to a co-worker, and I've no clue what happened to the condoms.

You could always add the scotch to the "unsinkable" area. lol
