Unlike a previous thread, this ain't about who is the best, but simply who rocks on the ax.

I'm opening with Joe Satriani, because that's who I'm listening to right now.

Every time I hear/see Steve Vai's name, I think of the "Crossroads" movie (yeah, Karate Kid II was on cable the other night.)

I'm listening to Flamenco Diablo on YouTube, which tells me that Yngwie Malmsteen needs to be added.

And some more....

Dimebag Darrell
Randy Rhoads
Zakk Wylde

You should check out Wylde's "Farewell Ballad" on YouTube -- a tribute to Dimebag. Plus his (Wylde's) "Dead as Yesterday" on a 12-string acoustic. Beautiful stuff.

I'll make it easy for you --

Lincoln Brewster is also a great guitarist.
Whoever played the guitar for Lynyrd Skynyrd(one of the Van Zants perhaps)
Brian Bunn from DecembeRadio might be one of the best that Christian music has seen.

Skynyrd had about a million guitars! Just listen to Freebird!

Freebird is quite probably the best guitar song ever written.

Robert Johnson. How can I say that? Just look at the few names who looked to his recordings for inspiration when they were getting started:

Jimmy Page
Keith Richards
Eric Clapton
Jimi Hendrix...
