Hey! It's a brand new thread and topic. I think we've discussed this in one way or another over the couple of years I've been on here, but I thought it might be appropriate to make a topic dedicated to what is appropriate (or not) on the boards. For example, there are some threads where I am a regular instigator (contributor) which are considered by some as distasteful or unnecessary. So, fire away.

(In case you're wondering, I think that IT is a vital thread and is a positive part of this community.)

Good thread. I love randomosity threads...I think they are usually entertaining, although they don't have much spiritual value. But it's another way to fellowship on this message board with other believers.

I even think the IT thread is funny and entertaining.I read the poo one on the old boards when it first started and was reading it here until a disgusting picture was posted. I have a weak stomach (when I see disgusting things) and a strong gag reflex so I absolutely cannot open that thread again as long as the picture is there..it made me sick.

If I'm not interested in a thread topic I won't click on it..if there's certain threads that bore me or make me sick, I won't open them..to each their own.

We can talk about if a thread adds value to the message board and it's basically someone's opinion. I believe fellowship with other Christians adds value.

I saw that too!!! Right before dinner *puke* There's got to be a line somewhere! Oh well...I just won't be going back there again.

I'm not going to defend or commend that particular picture. I will say this, though:

It came from the same place that golf was invented in (no, not the commode- Scotland).

I usually don't have time for the more frivolous topics, just because my time is so limited. But I think it's great to see people hanging out here or the old boards rather than other places where there could be unwholesome things happening.

Speaking of frivolous vs. serious topics...do any of you ever worry about giving too much personal information on the boards? (or Facebook, M/S, etc.) What do you think are some important safety precautions?

I would never post my full address but i do have what town and state, and phone number on my facebook. I only add people that i know on there...everyone except for the people from here that i have on there (and trust :)), I have met.

Myspace has less personal information.

For those reading this, I am in my mid-20s. I definitely don't feel like teenagers should give away any information like that. I've read articles before about how you shouild even avoid doing what school or mascot you are because there are predators out there that have narrowed it down.

One of my youth's parents monitors her time on the Internet and frequently checks her myspace profile. She is not allowed to add random strangers which is a great precaution.

I think you have to be cautious because you just never know. The privacy settings on facebook are great. I like that you can set your profile there and on myspace so only friends see it.

I never add random friend requests.

You're sweet, Euan. :)

I agree with you Amanda. There are too many unscrupulous people out in the world for us to be putting too much private information out on message boards and such. Really, all of us need to be careful. Anybody, at any age can become the victim of a predator.

To everyone; just be careful. Please.

any predators after me will be scared off by the kilt and claymore wuahahahahaha

in all seriousness, its advisable to be extra careful. Same goes the other way. I do not even add people on here as friends until i know them by their character and posts to keep my back covered.

LOL!!!

Can friends here see any additional info on us? I've always added here because I didn't think there was any type of access. I better double back and check that out. Thank you for mentioning it.

I'm the same way. Plus, I don't see the point of having 50 million friends on every site imaginable. That's why I only have a couple dozen "friends" on any given network (and most of those are bands).
