View Full Version : When Cats Attack

So this morning I woke up just like every other morning…with Chloe, my cat, scratching at the door and crying for me to let her out. I’m pretty sure we both had the same objective :p But I got up and let her out and followed her. She stopped in the middle of the yard and started digging. I kept on going to go into the house and then for some reason I turned around. Not that I wanted to see her doing that, but something made me turn around. I looked over at the tree she was closest to and saw this squirrel hanging out at the bottom. Chloe saw him too. She crept over and hid behind the tree. So here I am staring at this tree with a squirrel right in front, and even though I couldn’t see her, I knew my cat was right behind it, just waiting to attack. Sure enough, she jumps out from behind and the squirrel takes off running. I almost wanted to not watch just in case my cat caught him, but I kept watching, just fascinated by this whole event. The squirrel quickly retreated to the next tree and ran up as fast as he could. Now my cat, at her old age is smart enough to know that she can’t climb that tree anymore! :p So she just sits there and the squirrel turns around and laughs at her. (I love squirrel’s laughs….too funny!)

This got me thinking. A couple nights ago things were going great - I was happy and relaxed. I’d had the house to myself all evening so there was no stress on me. I was getting ready to go to bed when all of a sudden, this sadness came over me. Then it just spiraled downwards. Minutes later, I was in bed bawling my eyes out and I wasn’t really sure why.

As Christians, we are under constant attack from the devil. The closer we get to God, the closer the devil gets to us to try and pull us away. Sometimes we can feel him coming, but other times he’s just like my cat…hiding, waiting for just the right moment to pounce on us. That’s how I felt that night. Like I had been pounced on, but I wasn’t quick enough to get away. We have to be quick! We need to be ready at a moment’s notice, just like that squirrel….he had NO idea Chloe was hiding…he had no idea of the danger that lied right behind him. But he was smart, and quick, and managed to get to safety and then turn to his enemy and let out a big HA HA! Wouldn’t it be nice for us to be able to run to God every time we’re attacked and then turn around looking the devil in the eye and give him a big HA HA! I sure wish I’d been a squirrel that night!

Very good, Kelly! Awesome.

Last night in church there was a testimony given. It was from a lady who had been dealing with panic attacks. She said that a friend (who is the wonderful lady who led me to Jesus), told her that she used to have them, too. What she would do was when they would come upon her, which was always in the middle of the night, she would get up and just start praising God. Soon the attacks stopped. The lady giving the testimony last night said that she started doing the same thing, and the attacks on her quit, too.

You are so right, Kelly. The devil tries every evil scheme he can think of to bring us down. But we have victory in Jesus! Like the song says;

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of this world
Will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.

Praise God!

The joy of the Lord is our strength!
