Ok so I know I already wrote my nice long testimony on here, but I have a whole other one that started before I was even born and it's come up a lot lately, so I thought I'd share.

I've always been made fun of in the family (jokingly of course) because I'm the only one of us kids (one of 5) that was born in Waco, Tx. (we call it "wacko tx")Everyone else was born here. And I'm the second child, so it's not like they lived in Waco, had me, then moved here....it was no accident that I was born elsewhere. My parents were born and raised in separate worlds....my mom was a military child so she lived all over the world, and my dad was born in Austin, and pretty much stayed there most of his life. Then somehow, they managed to find each other here in our little town. They got married and had my brother, then a few years later, got pregnant with me. My dad decided to go back to school in Waco so they moved there. Not long after they moved there, I was born. I was born with spina bifida and my parents had no idea I had it until I came out. Turns out, that hospital in Waco had the best spina bifida resources available in the state, and pretty much in the country. Back then, spina bifida was very rare and you were lucky to find a doctor who even knew what it was. But I was in the best hands I could've possibly been in! I had several surgeries to fix all the complications that come with Spina Bifida. And while I haven't made as full a recovery as some, my recovery has been nothing short of miraculous!

One major complication with spina bifida is that there's no way for spinal fluid to exit the brain (known as hydrocephalus). So they put a tube in my head to help the draining. They prepared us, letting us know that I would most likely need several surgeries in my lifetime (at the very least, every 5 years) to either fix or replace the tube because as you grow, they tend to quit working. I, however, have only received one replacement....back when I was 5! I have gone more than 22 years without needing a replacement!

So if nothing else in my life reminds me that God is always there....that little story definitely helps! My life verse, as you can see below in my siggy, is John 9:3 - This happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. I have no doubt that God had an amazing plan for me, and still does. And I know that part of that plan is to share this story so that others can see the amazing work of God!

Praise God! :)

Wow, Kelly, that is indeed miraculous! Praise You Jesus!!! It makes me things of Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Really??? Wow!

Yup! I can walk (Praise God!), but I use a walker. I had clubbed (crooked) feet, but had that fixed when I was 3. Between ages 1 and 3 I had four shunt replacements and then the fifth one at age 16 (this past feb.) And a bunch of other surgeries, but thats a whole 'nother story! haha!:) God bless! Thanks for sharing your story!

I haven't had any for scoliosis (I have a very mild case of it), but clubbed feet, shunt replacements and the hole in my back i've had fixed.

I had severe scoliosis....it required two 5-hour surgeries in back-to-back months, so not much recovery time in between. But they fixed it and I grew 4 inches overnight! :) I was 4'2 before surgery and 4'6 afterwards. I'm now 4'9 and it's looking like that's where I'll stay. But yeah, those surgeries were ROUGH (especially since I was 12 at the time)....so I'm glad you didn't have to go through it! Oh and not to mention that I now have to take 4 amoxicillin horse pills every time I go to the dentist!!!! No fun! I freak out if I accidentally swallow an M&M whole hehehe...these things are about the equivalent of three!

Oh my goodness! I'm FINALLY 5 feet. I was 4"11 FOREVER!!! I take a ton of meds too. I've had a bone taken out of my hip and put into my foot. Don't know why though.:p
