What did you read in God's Word today? What did it say to you personally? How would you like to apply it to your life?

Last night was so awesome! I did my usual pre-bedtime worship, then I started praying and totally felt God leading me through it. I told Him that I was going to just sit in silence and let Him listen to my heart.....but He just kept me talking and I had so many little revelations. It was awesome! Then I pulled out my Bible and opened to the back where they have a subject index and I looked under "Worrying about the future?" because of my recent job search and I needed some good scripture to guide me. Boy did it! My Bible (and God) lead me to read Isaiah 35. I'll just post bits of it that stuck out most because it would take forever to type up the entire chapter!

Isaiah 35:
3-4: Here is a message for all who are weak, trembling, and worried: Cheer up! Don't be afraid.
10: The people the Lord has rescued will come back singing as they enter Zion. Happiness will be a crown they will always wear. They will celebrate and shout because all sorrows and worries will be gone far away.

Wow, so I just checked my email and I had the KLove Encouraging Word for the Day and here's what it said:

Isaiah 41:13 For I hold you by your right hand - I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, "Don't be afraid, I am here to help you."

Perhaps I need to really spend some time digging into Isaiah!

Those are both awesome posts, Kelly. I love those Scriptures! The Lord really used those in your heart last night. Awesomeness!

I'm doing some studying in the Word concerning exhaustion. I feel scattered, spread too thin, too involved with too many things. I'm trying to focus on His will for me and not my own desires or wishes to serve. I need to find out the core of my service to Jesus. One word keeps popping up, and that is "peace". Right now (for the past few years) Dan and I both feel compelled to be a part of so many ministries that we can't really do our best in any one of them. So I've been really praying and seeking the Lord's will concerning our time and having peace. Here is a Scripture that has really been convicting me, shedding light on my restlessness and opening the doors to discovering His perfect will. I know that He wants me serving in Jeremy's ministry, and I know that I'm supposed to be in the ministry of helps at our church. It's the rest that I'm unsure of. But we'll see as we continue to pray and seek His face.

Colossians 3:15 "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful." The word rule literally means "umpire". So that tells me that the peace, that feeling of peace that God gives will umpire, or call the shots as to what I need to continue in, and what I need to let go of. Is that cool or what?! I'm very easily moved by compassion because the Lord gave me a tender heart. But I have allowed it to rule me rather than the peace of God.

I'm so thankful that He has given us His precious Word to live by.

Tonight I was in youth group (i'm a little old for that, but we all meet together) and we were talking about the parable of the seeds. We each broke up into groups and broke down this verse because we said that it applied to us all as a youth group. We did the Baptist thing and voted on it. Out of the 4 options in that verse this is the one that stuck with us all.

8:14 As for the seed that fell among thorns, these are the ones who hear, but (http://net.bible.org/bible.php?book=Luk&chapter=8#n45) as they go on their way they are choked by the worries and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.

We said that we all had riches and pleasures of life tying us down and that we cared about those things more than Jesus.

Here's another great KLove Encouraging Word of the Day - I really recommend yall read those! And get their devotional! I love it!

Don’t worry about anything, instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
~ Philippians 4:6

God's been speaking to me a LOT about this lately. I get so caught up in worrying how I'm gonna get everything done in a day, in a week....and especially worrying about finding a job, living on my own, etc....I need to learn to just give it all to God because He will take care of it for me. I've even changed the way I pray because of what he has taught me about this very issue.

Last night at church we watched a video. Our pastor was teaching a class (his last night for the semester. Yeah!). It was about having an victorious attitude, trusting the Lord, not giving in to discouragement due to circumstances due to life situations. He used a lot of Scriptures, but a couple of them are:

Ephesians 6:13-20
13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

19And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

20For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Phillipian 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Romans 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

It was very encouraging and spoke to my heart about keeping a positive attitude regardless of what goes on around me. We are children of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Amen?

Laura. Here is another verse for you.

biblegateway Mat 6:25 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?version=51&search=Mat+6:25)
"So I tell you, don’t worry about everyday life––whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn’t life consist of more than food and clothing?

Yeah, that was was used last night, too. That also applies to my "exhaustion vs. peace" study I'm doing. Thank you.

Yeah, I figured you probably had talked about that verse. It was just one we discussed last night as well.

I wouldn't say that. You have a lot more experience in life than me and you are probably stronger in your faith than me. Just saying. Don't take that as mean..

I don't take it in a bad way. It takes a whole lot to offend me. :) But what I meant was what we heard last night was along the same lines. I just didn't say it well. Oops.

17. Asking the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you will know him better. 18. I pray also that you will have greater understanding in your heart so you will know the hope to which he has called us and that you will know how rich and glorious are the blessings God has promised his holy people. - Ephesians 1:17-18 (NCV)

This is my new prayer request for us all! ;)

"....Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep." John 21:15-17

Do you love Jesus? Feed His sheep. How can you feed His sheep?
1 Thessalonians 5:14-17 gives us some ways to help others:

14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

16 Rejoice evermore.

17 Pray without ceasing.

Letting the fruit of the Spirit shine from you sets a good example and therefore is another way to help others. Galantians5:22-26

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Let's all be conscientious of others. Reach out in love to those who need a friend. Minister to the hurting. Pray for others. Teach. Help in any way you are able to.

God's Word is AWESOME!

Procrastination.

Who else here suffers from this terrible "disease" hehe

Some people say "Why put off till tomorrow what you can get done today?" I say "Why do today what can be put off till tomorrow?" :p

But I tell ya, I get it SOOO bad sometimes! I'm the queen of procrastination! For example, there's a list of people I've needed to call lately about getting into a driver's ed program this summer. I've put off this list for over a month now! So bad! But I HATE talking on the phone! I've never been a phone person! I text WAY more than I talk! I procrastinate in so many areas of my life, but last night, after putting off all this stuff off for so long, God "stuck it to me" in my daily devotional:

Let your flesh know who is in charge. Look for ways to say "no" to yourself every day. If you do, you'll be able to do it when it really counts. We're not just talking about cardinal sins, but zeroing in on the undisciplined areas of our lives that we excuse, rationalize, or postpone dealing with.

How long are you going to keep telling yourself, "I know I need to change, and I will - tomorrow"? You have the right to consume chocolate cake and ice cream at bedtime every night. It's permissible, but not beneficial, especially if you want unblocked arteries, sugar-free blood, a trim waistline, the ability to run a marathon, or maybe just to keep up with your grandkids. You have the right to spend your time and money as you please, but you don't have the right to complain when the law of diminishing returns kicks in and you finish up in the poorhouse. When it comes to replacing bad habits with good ones, only one person is going to make it happen - you! Your character is the sum total of your everyday choices. Day by day, what you think, what you choose, and what you do, is who you become.

************************************************

So my A/C is currently broken, and it's 100 degrees outside and my walls are concrete....not very pleasant in my bedroom right now as you can imagine. I have a little fan, but I have to be right in front of it for it to be even somewhat cool. But outside it's just gorgeous. And if you know me, you know that my three favorite things are sunshine, sweet tea, and music...give me those three things and I'm a happy girl! Well my mom went to pick up my sister from school and of course, brought me back a sweet tea, so I'm enjoying the sun and sweet tea when that devotional pops into my head. I said to myself "Go into your room, put your tea away, and turn off your fan....and until you make those calls....no sunshine, music, and sweet tea for you!" Boy did that work! :) Got my calls done in 20 minutes! Now I'm off to enjoy some sunshine, music, and sweet tea...and no guilt!

I have been meaning to put this on here for a while now, but I have just never gotten around to it. I really like the book of Ephesians. It just seems so easy to understand and you really don't have to think to figure out what it is saying. I would have to say that my favorite verse from that book is "And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ".
-Ephesians 5:20
