I thought we could use a thread to talk about makeup, hair, etc....
So as you may have seen in the Image Post thread, I recently dyed my hair. It came out a LOOOOOT darker than on the box (and I was a blonde to start with!). I actually started to really like it. But then I realized something....when it starts to grow out, I'm going to have very light roots and a VERY noticeable line, so it looks like I'll be throwing down some nice chunk change to get a color correction done :( Granted, that would be kinda fun because they know better what will look good on me and let's face it, it's fun getting your hair done :) So we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Any other hair dyers out there???

Beauty....good topic. We should do a Bible Study on this.
I don't wear make up. I figure that the God who created me made me how he wanted me to look and I'm not messing with it. Not to say that I sometimes wish I could make improvements on how I look...but honestly, I don't focus on it. I feel the same about my hair.
This is just my personal feelings on it and I'm not saying anything at all against anyone who uses those products.

Yeah my makeup consists of mascara and lip gloss. If I'm going out for something really special, I'll throw on a little eyeshadow too, but never anything major.
I don't mess with any of that foundation/powder/concealer stuff....I never get it the right shade for my skin, and it always looks like I have makeup on, and half the time, I end up breaking out. Everyone always tells me I have great skin (which is part of the reason I look 10 years younger than I really am hehe) and they always ask me how I wash it or what kinda makeup I'm wearing. I tell them, "no makeup" and "I don't wash my face...just splash with water"....they give me the evil eye and then go "I HATE YOU!" :p Little do they know that I actually wish I had some wrinkles and blemishes because then I might look the age that I am hehe

Make-up....my favorite topic! lol
I wear Bare Escentuals. I used to wear Mary Kay, but started to breakout from the liquid foundation. Now I only break out when its that time of the month! lol
But lately I have been lazy with wearing anything and just go as I am, but if its a special event I am going to I will wear make-up.
It was funny one time I wore some to work and a sweet guy I know came up to me and told me I look real pretty with make-up on. He's sweet and cute to boot. ;) Maybe I should start wearing it again. lol

Well, I wear Bare Minerals foundation, absolutely love it. You don't feel like you have makeup on at all. I use blush, eyeliner, mascara, eye shadow and then I line my lips and fill in with a lipliner before using either a tinted lip gloss or lipstick. I love makeup. On weekends, I will normally skip the eye shadow. if I'm doing anything active (camping, hiking, etc..I don't do any makeup).
At night, I wash with a good facial cleaner..currently using Aveeno. In the winter, I dab some Oil of Olay on because my face will be so dry.

Hehe yeah my mom keeps telling me....you complain now...but just wait until ten years from now when you're almost 40 and people are telling you, you don't look a day over 30....she's got a good point hehehe
The only time it REALLY bugs me though is when I'm on a job interview and the person asks me how old I am, as if they're thinking I'm REALLY young, and when I tell them, they come back with things like "Oh, well you're good then"...or "Oh, well then you've probably got some experience"

People are shocked when I say my age. Which I love! lol They always say 23-25.

Any of you use good (cheap) products that help with acne? I have oily skin and my face is ALWAYS broke out. I use acne pads from Avon, but they don't help much.

Everything I use is Clinique, from facewash to foundation and mascara. I wear make up pretty much everyday but I don't use a lot. I normally wear a light foundation, neutral eye shadow and mascara to work. Same thing for going out, but I might change the eye shadow. I can't wear lipstick, I think I look really strange with it on. I do use lip balm though and sometimes if I can be bothered I use clear lip gloss.
That Bare Escentuals range looks great, but I haven't seen it in SA.
As for my hair, I have had it dyed pretty much every (normal) colour under the sun...except black. That was when I was younger though. I went to a really strict all girls high school where we had to have natural hair and so in the holidays we would all go mad.
I have had it completely natural for the past 7 years though. I had it chemically straightened once which lasted for about 2 years and was honestly the best thing I ever did, but it has grown out now, so I have to try and deal with frizzing in the humidity!

My 2 cents on Beauty. Everyone knows I am the hair and make up queen. I just dig that stuff....I have flip flops with bling....But we are beautiful when we shine...for him...thats true beauty.;)

Same with me!!! Why is that? Hehe....whenever I wear lipstick, I look like I have clown lips! No matter what color I use. But I don't really like the feel of it anyways....definitely prefer lip gloss!

Are you blonde or fair? I think that is probably the main reason why I look silly. People with darker skin tones and darker hair look stunning with colour on their lips, while, like you say, I look like a clown:rolleyes: unless it is really pale pinkish/nude.
Although that changes with age, I know some people who are blonde and older who look stunning with lipstick on...my mom for instance. I just end up looking like a kid who found mom's make up. So I just emphasise my eyes rather...works for me as I don't have to keep reapplying.

I learned about ELF cosmetics on the old board and I order stuff from there a lot. Almost everything is a $1 with some stuff being $3 or $5 and they have kits that are more, and shipping is $5. They run a lot of specials. I just got some mineral eyeshadow there in three different shades that I LOVE.

Ooohhh!! I really like ELF cosmetics! I have only bought a few things from them so far but for the price you can't beat it. I really like their blotting papers. They have them for a buck compared with clean & clear for like $5 for the same amount. I like their their lipgloss as well :)
My favorite make up product is lipgloss and/or lipstick!!! I love the bonnebell DR. Pepper lip smacker! Gives me great color and shine while it softens :) And you can't beat the $2 price!!

Mineral makeup is my favorite! It's so light and natural, I love it. To start out I use Bare Minerals light-colored foundation. Then I put on some Bare Minerals bronzer (I use the "warmth" shade). Then comes some Bare Minerals "sorbet" (it has a pretty, pinkish, glowing tint to it) on my cheeks and forehead. Maybelline chestnut eyeliner. I use Urban Decay eyeshadow...it's awesome! The colors are so funky and, many times, glittery. I put some "flipside" eyeshadow on my eyelids (greenish-blueish), mixed with some "oil slick" (black & shimmery). "Midnight cowby" shadow (a creamy color but verryyyy sparkly) goes on the rest of my eyes. Then Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara in "very black"! It makes my already-long eyelashes look freakishly long. Finally, I finish off with some Maybelline lipliner and lip gloss. It sounds like a lot, but I really don't overdo it. I'm cautious with my bronzer as I don't prefer to look like a tomato.
