Devotional Recommendations

Hey gals,

I am looking for a morning Women’s Devotion to start my day, something small with a scripture and short meditation. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I found a book called "Beautiful Things; Devotions for everyday of the year" It's compiled by a bunch of different women from Iowa. I've really enjoyed it so far. I can't remember where you can get it...Amazon, maybe? The title of todays is called, "Life is a Musical" using Eph. 5:18 and Psalm 104:33. It talks about how praising God in song throughout the day can be so uplifting and encouraging, how it can get you through some tough spots in the day. I know this to be true since music is such a huge part of my life.

I agree Laura! Music is a huge part of my life as well, and I LOVE to sing and worship! :) Whenever I'm having a rough day, or just a rough moment, I put on a song and start singing praises to the Lord and I feel soooo much better!

Yeah, me too. It's awesome. I like it on all the time. What's so neat is seeing Ben walk around singing songs because he hears them all the time. That does my heart good.

Yes! Jesse sings allllllll the time drives his 13 yr old brother crazy........... "Mom..make him stop!" Do I...NOOO...I start singing too. ...Come on Alex you know the words..."You got the Joy Joy Joy..down in your heart!" LOL...Teeneagers..oih!

Well, this is pitiful, but since Ben was about 1 1/2, when he hears me sing, he puts his hand over my mouth, or had hands over his ears. :o Oh well, the Lord enjoys it. LOL!

LOL!! OH, yesterday in the car we were singing to whatever song was on the radio. When it was over, Ben said, "Mama, did you hear me singing?" "Yes, Ben, I heard you. You sing so nice." Ben said, "Singing to Jesus helped me overcome temptation." I'm like, "Really? That's awesome honey. Do you want to tell me what you were being tempted by?" Ben, so seriously, replied, "Chocolate!" It took all my motherly strength not to crack up. It was so cute!

I've not seen "Streams in the Desert", but I like the way that sounds. I'll check it out.

I have "My Utmost for His Highest" and it's awesome. Lots of thought provoking pages in that book.

Ladies, I could just cry right now....I think I left my devotional at the hotel in Snyder! :( :( :( I haven't seen it around here since I got back.

I suppose I could email the radio station and ask them to send me another one...its just that this is the third time I've had to email them requesting a new one! They're probably gonna think it's some kinda scam or something! :p

But seriously....I can't believe I did that!!!!

Gotta call the hotel tomorrow and find out. Maybe they can mail it back to me if they found it there and kept it.

I finally gave in and sent the radio station an email requesting a new one (as well as info on where to send a donation to! :p).

I looked up online devotionals today and it just wasn't the same! I really like the way these are written (as you can probably tell because I share them on here every other day hehe)

But hopefully they'll get me another one ASAP. I just can't imagine what happened to mine!

I've been hearing a LOT about My Utmost for His Highest lately, so I may have to check that one out!

I got my replacement devotional today! Yay!!!! Man I missed that thing! I spent the afternoon catching up, and got so into it that I almost read past today! :p

Hey Kelly, glad you got your devotional replacement.

I have a really neat little book by MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers). It was a gift from Dan's aunt when Ben came along 7 years ago. It's called "God's Words of Life for Moms". It's packed with Scriptures under chapters titled for different emotions, feelings, situations, etc. Chapters are in alphabetical, the first few being "Anger", "Asking For Help", "Attitude", "Bible Study", "Children", "Commitment", "Communication", "Confidence", "Conflict", etc. It's really good. If I'm feeling a certain way, I can go to the chapter I need and just read several Scriptures on it. I love it!

I absolutely adore Beth Moore and she now has daily devotionals. I recommend any of hers......

I am checking into Adie's suggestion's as well. =)
