Please pray for my friend, Peggy. I just found out that she has breast cancer. She will be having surgery on Monday 8/17. I'm scared for her. This is the Peggy who is in my testimony, the one who brought me to Jesus 23 years ago. Please pray that there is little or no cancer and that they get it all out without terrible damage to her body. Thanks so much.

she's in my thoughts and prayers. :)

I know a few women who have breast cancer too. My handbell director at church has it but she's had several treatments over the past several months, so she's better.
also, my mom's friend has it and she's still having treatments.

That's encouraging, thank you so much. I appreciate your prayers. I'll tell Peggy that you are praying for her, too. I'm believing God for a mighty touch on her!

Peggy had surgery yesterday and it went well. Thank you, Jesus! Please continue to pray for a speedy recovery and that she won't need chemo. She will probably need radiation, though.

Well, it's been a really rough 24 hours. We found out that Peggy's breast cancer is worse than they thought. It's an aggressive form. She will need chemo. They have to do surgery again. We are all just devastated. For one thing, one of the pre-op proceedures they do is to push a wire, yes, a wire through her breast to find the lumps and mark them for the surgery. She said they couldn't find them, so they were going in and out and all around with the wire. No pain meds. She said it was torture. It made me furious when she told me about it last week, (that they didn't give her meds) and I bawled my eyes out knowing she went through that. She was comforting me, saying it's done, over and she's fine now. Now she has to have it again!! I've not stopped crying for more than a few minutes since last night. No sleep at all. I feel so bad for her...poor Peggy! I'm terrified for her! I don't want her to suffer. She is the sweetest person I know and she's been through more than any other person I've ever known. Why? Her hair is so long and beautiful, past her knees and she's expected to lose it all. And worse than all this, the CANCER! I know I'm babbling. Please, just pray for Peggy and her family. Help them know that Jesus will be with them still, no matter what. How do I minister and encourage her....?

Here is another verse that I just happen to read on the internet.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

I did sleep well last night, thank you for praying and for the awesome verses! Perfect! It's so strange to go into shock like that. I really felt like a zombie (whatever a zombie is...?!) for the past few days. But reality kicked in and I know that the Lord is with Peggy and nothing will happen to her that has not passed through His hand. He will receive glory in the outcome.

Laura my heart goes out to you and Peggy & family. i know how much she means to you. You do just as you do so much of encouraging here on the boards. As you know our pain and suffering will bring something good out of all of this no matter the end result God will be glorified I think that could encourage her to remind her that Jesus loves her and I do believe He can heal. I have found a peace in saying "I Love You, Jesus and Thank you" for the life you have given me each day as many times as I can through out my day and even at night when i go to bed. Just staying focused on Him which I know she is such a strong woman of God just as you are. I'll try and call you this weekend. I miss our long talks hopefully that will change soon (our schedules).
Hugs & Love ~leigh

Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-

10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

Peggy heard Jeremy's new song tonight, "There Will Be a Day" and she was deeply touched by it!

Peggy goes into the hospital tomorrow morning at 6, and has surgery at 10. Please pray that it goes well and that they get all the cancer out. Also, that it didn't spread. Please pray that she doesn't have unbearable pain again with the pre-op things that they have to do.

She says thank you for praying for her.

Peggy's mom just called to let me know that Peggy is out of surgery now, and she's "come to", but they want her to rest for about an hour before trying to get her to eat. They will be sending the lymph nodes and such in to be tested, but the surgeon said they looked pretty good. I pray they are totally cancer-free and that she is done with this now. In Jesus' Name!

Thank you for praying.

Well, another blow, but good news, too. Peggy said that the surgeon didn't get a "clean edge biopsy" whatever that means, so she goes in for ANOTHER surgery on Tuesday. Please pray that they do what they need to do and that it's then complete. The great news is that she doesn't need chemo! Praise God!!! She does need radiation, but at least she won't lose her hair and be sick from the chemo.

Thanks again for your faithful prayers. You truly are making a difference in a precious lady's life.

Thanks for your prayers. Peggy feels them/Him making a huge difference. Isn't it amazing how we can affect a person's life who we don't even know. There is such power in prayer.

On Sunday Peggy went up to the nursing home/rehab center where Donn is (her husband who had a heart attack and stroke late last year at the age of 50 or 51). She was going to pick him up to take him to church and he had a terrible grand mal seizure. Peggy was very upset. Please continue to pray for miracles in her family, peace, assurance, blessings and strenth.

Ok, the latest update is that the radiologist told Peggy he wants her to have chemo, radiation and hormone therapy, even though they said they got all of the cancer out. Why?!

Peggy is feeling pretty down. She's going for a second opinion in a few days.

They do that to play it safe just in case if they didnt get it all...When my sister gets off work, i will try to give her a call and see what she thinks...but im pretty sure thats why they do that..

LauraA

Really? Why do some people have to have it and others don't? I wonder if it's because of the aggressive nature of the type of cancer she has/had...? That would make sense.

Thank you, Aaron. Please let me know what she says. I probably won't be on much tonight because I'm sick, but you can email or pm me. Or write it here. (I hope you are doing ok. I've been praying for you. Still haven't picked a picture. Will have to wait until this flu is gone.)

Hey Laura, that is a bummer. I'm sure that news was hard to hear. Those treatments are never easy to go through. I will be praying really hard for her. I will tell you from what I have seen of certain friends/relatives going through cancer... it is almost better to have those follow up treatments to knock it out. We know several individuals that had cancer surgery & never got any after treatment like chemo and their cancers came back & they died from it. So I agree with Psalms23 when it comes to something like cancer it is better to play it safe. I know my Mom has said that if she gets cancer (Hopefully that will NEVER happen) she wants all the treatments she can get... she has just seen so many people including her relatives that were killed by this disease. :( Its so sad. I sure hope we can find a cure very soon.

LauraA
09-28-2008, 02:44 PM
Yeah, I think you are right. Both of you. It's just so sad to know what she faces ahead, but then again, if the cancer came back it would be worse. Thank God there are treatments available for this horrible disease. Thank you for the encouragement and thoughts on it. I'm going to tell Peggy what you've all said. I know it will help her so much.

What an awesome group of people we have here. You feel like family...Thank you, Jesus.

LauraA

Please continue to keep Peggy in your prayers. She pressed the doctors for answers and they told her that they do the radiation and all that just to be sure they get rid of the cancer. It improves your survival "chances" by 10% (if you've been told they got it all out).

I don't think she is going to take the treatments. Please pray that the Lord would see to it that the cancer doesn't come back, or that none got out when they did surgery.

She also has several other prayer rerquests, so please pray that He would meet their needs and give them strength.

Your prayers are so appreciated and she can feel that she's being prayed for. Thank you!

LauraA

She did and they said they got all the cancer but that doing hormone therapy, chemo and radiation are preventative. She has (so far) decided not to take them. She is a very strong woman of faith and believes that the Lord will see her through this. Please pray for her whenever she comes to mind. She needs strength and wisdom for many situations right now.
