I posted this on the Third Day boards too, so it may look familiar to some, but I know there's at least a few very good photographers on here too, so I figured I'd post it here too.

I've kind of been looking at cameras lately, because mine really isn't that great...it's nice looking and very compact, but only has 2X optical zoom and not a lot of manual settings and only 4MP. I wasn't really looking that much, because I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the money or not. But yesterday I came across what appeared to be an unbeatable deal. This camera (http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=10689&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=701) was advertised for $140. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with it or something similar, or could let me know what they thought of it. I went and looked at it today, and it looked like it had all the features I might miss from my current camera, plus many more.

dcresource.com gave it a fairly good review, and some of the things he brought up as negative really wouldn't bother me at all. http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/kodak/z712is-review/index.shtml
He also says it's arguably the best ultra zoom camera under $250.

Any thoughts?

Okay, sorry about the links not working if anyone's looked at this. One got messed up somehow, and the other I forgot to put the link back in when I copied from Third Day's boards.

I myself tries to stay away from Kodak. I know a lot of people that use Kodak and after awhile their camera isn't that great and they don't like it. I would try to lean towards Sony, Nikon, or Cannon. I think they have the best cameras out there..but that is my opinion.

Thanks for your input. When you say that after a while people don't like their camera, do you mean that they just don't really like it anymore, or that it is outdated quickly, or that the camera itself actually goes bad and has problems with it?

And this is the camera I currently have:

Your Welcome. The reason they dont like them is cause after time goes by..the quality of the photos get worse. But i guess it depends on how much you use it also..

Olympus is pretty good too. I started with a Olympus C740 10x Ultra Zoom.

I've not had much experience with Kodak, so I can't really help there much. I've had an Olympus, which I loved. Now I'm on my 2nd cannon, which were both great too.
