HAHA yes why do we have to know someone to go to Texas High School football! Here in Willis, our Varsity team broke a 30 game loosing streak the 1st game of the season! They also won Saturday which puts them at 2-0 for the season. Of course they are going to play makeups for the 2 cancelled games because of DUMB DUMB IKE but of course they are going to win them also =D

This picture taken during Hurricane IKE at 2:30 A.M was illuminated by 5 candles threw a window, a 1 second exposure...

This picture was taken at around 3:30 AM with winds gusting to about 80, dont worry the winds got stronger. It was illuminated by the distant flashing of electrical lines gowing down and blowing transformers, notice the wierd blurring of the winds thrashing the tree's. 1 second exposure

Laura back in the late 80s I sold some work to the newspapers but since then I have kept photography as a part time job and a hobby. Dont worry, I wasnt out in the hurricane, I was safely sitting on the porch on the leeward side of the house:D

Hi Emma, I don’t know anyone whom has this camera but I checked it out on the net and I think it would be a great camera for you. It is very affordable but you might want to buy a memory card for it also because it only has 27MB of built in memory and I think that wont be enough.

I bet they are beautiful. I have seen the autumn colors up north in some of my travels and just was amazed. Twice back in the 80s we had an autumn down here in southeast Texas that rivaled those of the North, but that’s about it a couple of them about every two decades!

Wow! Those are just amazing! I may have already asked this, but what kinda camera are you using and what settings do you use to get those night pics?

I've got a Kodak Z812IS...I think that's the numbers anyways...I think it stands for 8 MP and 12X optical zoom. For the night pictures I was using a tripod and just playing around with the shutter speed between 1 second and 5 seconds, with and ISO setting of 200. Then I just pick out the ones that turned out best.

EDIT: Here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/413_gomer/) is my flickr site which also gives any more information you might want for each picture. And tells me that I was wrong about my camera...I guess it's 7 MP, so it's a Kodak Z712IS.

i must admit that the snow where i live is THE best.

it falls like once every 3-5 yrs. when it falls, it falls in the earrrrrly morning (like between 2-6am).....and by 3pm (and that's a LATE estimate!), it's all melted. ALL of it. just like mud-slush in the gutters of the road.

i grew up in montana, so..i have fond memories of the snow - i LOVE it!!! but...i ALSO know that i wouldn't love it so much if i were the one that had to shovel the sidewalks, dig out the car, etc... :S

i hope we get some this year! it's been about 2 yrs, so..we're almost due.....

LaurA, you may want to try using different ISO, the higher is better in low light conditions. You can also use a tripod to ensure a better shot while playing with the Exposure settings.
