I figured I'd get this started over here. It's not too late, but I definitely should've been in bed by now...oops :p
Anyways, for all you late-nighters, come on in and say hi :)
Oh and thanks to Steve for this great website....if you're a cats fan you'll love it...you'll probably love it even if you're not a cats fan :p Just check it out....

Kelly, off with you! NOW!;) Me, too. I was sleeping and woke up, couldn't get back to sleep....guess where I end up. I get up in a few hours, too, to watch daycare kids and do school with Ben. Steve, boot Kelly and I out of here, will you?!

Go to bed. I'll keep an eye on the place all night. It's not like I'm at work or anything.
Oh, wait, I am. Oh well.
LauraA
05-16-2008, 01:37 AM
Ok, I submit. Don't be lonely here all alone, though. I suppose you have enough to read. Oh yeah, but you'll be working, too. :)
Actually, I want to take a quick peek over yonder. I spent more time here today than I meant to, and not enough time over there.
Night.

That's what I should do, too. When I headed over there last night, I saw you were signed in there, too, and figured you had two windows open. Good thinking. I miss seeing those buttons, too. But that's ok. All is well.

Wisconsin is the same way. Drastic temperature fluctuations throughout a 24 hour period. Especially in spring and fall.
Speaking of weather, I get to buy my flowers this weekend! Fill up the flower pots and watch them grow. Then watch the bunnies eat them. LOL.

To all you late-nighters, I think that I typically go to bed later than you do. I don't go to bed until 7:30 am at the earliest. Why?
I work graveyards. It's just not natural to sleep at night.
It's also why anyone who calls me before 3 pm Pacific risks bodily harm.

Last night, rather than sleeping, I saw an absolutely amazing film -- Saints and Soldiers. Insanely good film. As I watched the special features, I found out they sent it to just about every film festival, hoping to be accepted to (maybe) three. They were accepted to almost every festival they applied, and won Best Picture at just about every festival they entered.
VERY good film. Rated PG-13 for war violence. No language, no nudity, and an absolutely amazing story.

Last week was not good. I had to take Wed and Thu (Thu and Fri in the land of "normal" human beings) to do jury duty. We finished around noon on Friday, then Jennifer and the boys and I went shopping. I took like a three hour nap, and was back at work @2330. I didn't leave work until 3 p.m. Saturday.
I'm still feeling it.:(

I seriously need to go to bed right after work today. We had a Sunday School departmental meeting tonight- they only happen quarterly, and they really are good, but I'm running on fumes after last week. And this Thursday we are going have guys in our basement with jackhammers. I think it will take another week of "normalcy" to recover after Thursday!

Thursday morning I get to drive an hour and a half in order to get a head, then come back home and go to sleep. Of course, this will be after I cash my paycheck at 9 am.
At least the head is a good one: Gallien-Krueger.

Heh. I'll have the head, but no cab. I eventually want to get a GK Goldine 1x15 and a GK GL 2x10. The 1x15 gives me enough low-end punch, and the 2x10 is great for Wednesdays -- we don't have a youth room, so we rip apart the sanctuary. Moving a 2x10 cab is easier than moving a 2x15 cab.

We're also the home state of Kutless, Shawn McDonald, Mat Kearney, and Falling Up, and were host to dc Talk when they recorded their "Welcome to the Freak Show" album. Plus they've done a lot of recording here (one of Toby's producers lives in Eugene).

Here are some fun facts about Texas:
The only place in the world where they make Dr. Pepper according to the original formula is in Dublin, Texas. Dr Pepper was invented in Waco in 1885. There is no period after the Dr in Dr Pepper
Seventy-five percent of the world's Snickers bars are made in Waco at the M&M/Mars plant. (Man, Waco is cooler than I thought....maybe I should be proud I was born there :p)
Rodeo is the official state sport of Texas, though High School Football is more popular.
It is illegal to spit on the sidewalk. (Hmmmm....I know a LOT of criminals then!)
The all American meal, the hamburger, was created in Athens, Texas.
The King Ranch in Texas is bigger than the state of Rhode Island.
Texas State representative, Jim Kaster, introduced a bill that all criminals must notify their victims in advance of their crimes and remind them that use of deadly force is authorized. (WHAT????)
When Texas was annexed in 1845 it retained the right to fly its flag at the same height as the national flag.
Texas is the only state to have the flags of 6 different nations fly over it. They are: Spain, France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, Confederate States, and the United States.
The Dallas/Fort Worth airport is larger than New York City’s Manhattan Island.
In Port Arthur obnoxious odors may not be emitted while in an elevator. (hehehe wow)
It is illegal for children to have unusual haircuts in Mesquite, Texas. (hehehehehe)
El Paso is closer to Needles, California than it is to Dallas. (I believe it!)
You can be legally married by publicly introducing a person as your husband or wife three times. (True! Be careful when joking around!)
Austin is considered the live music capital of the world. (Yep! Love it!)
Texas has the first domed stadium in the country. The structure was built in Houston and opened in April 1965.
Texas possesses three of the top ten most populous cities in the United States. These towns are Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.
Home to David Crowder, Chris Tomlin, and Seventh Day Slumber
And my hometown of New Braunfels has some awesome facts to its name as well
- Home to Texas's oldest dancehall, Gruene Hall - used in the movies Michael and Hope Floats
- Home to Schlitterbahn (world's largest waterpark)
- The world’s largest collection of beer bottles can be seen at Wurstfest in New Braunfels. (Yep! I'll have to show yall my pics sometime)

Sunny Des Plaines, IL, is home to ...
Ray Kroc's original McDonald's
The 1,000th McDonald's
The 2,000th McDonald's
The 3,000th McDonald's
And, apart from the first one (which is now a museum), I've eaten at all three. I know, it's no big deal. I just thought I'd mention it.

My town has some weird little quirks, too.
One of only two towns in the United States to have "The" as part of the official city name.
Colonel Wright Elementary School is the only government building where the flagpole is behind the building, not in front.
Columbia Gorge Community College used to be a tuberculosis hospital, and then a mental institution.
There are only three floating ballrooms west of the Mississippi. All three are in Oregon. Two of them are in The Dalles.
The One, the Only, the Original End of the Oregon Trail is right here in The Dalles (okay, it's actually a half-mile outside of town at Crate's Point, but you get the idea).
That hole in the ozone layer? Right above The Dalles. It'll be snowing just north, south, east, and west of us, and we'll have sunshine.

So after getting a whole hour and a half of sleep last night, then getting up at the buttcrack of dawn, working two jobs, and finally getting home at 7pm, I was quite tired! Fell right to sleep, even though I was glued to the tv watching the spurs game. Didn't even make it to halftime! Woke up to find the game was over (we lost!), and it was 1:30am....wow! Nice little nap there! But now I'm wide awake, and appear to be all alone in the world :p Anyone out there????

My brother had told me all about it a few days ago and I got online and ordered it immediately. I love it! Picks up the most random radio stations, but oh well hehe.
Of course I spent all night loading it up with music and then listening to that music....but somehow I still managed to eat dinner, shower, and do the laundry :) But it's definitely past my bedtime so I'm outta here!

see a saturday shift usally has the following benefits:-
5hr shift instead of 7
a full day off during the week
its quiet, normally just balances and 3rd party transfers
and the disadvantages
half hour lunches the other four days ur in
getting up on a saturday
not today
today i took 70 calls (on average in a 7 hr shift you'l take 85), thats stupidly busy
secondly every second call was an argument and none of it was my or the banks fault aaaaaaarghh!!!
On a brighter note, kung fu panda is fliiping awesome!

Heh; I got two calls from work within three hours of each other.
The first was from a guy whose drop was $56.50 over. He needed my awesome auditor skillz to find where it came from. Unfortunately, my awesome auditor skillz failed us this time; possibly because I was woken from a dead sleep. Who knows...
The second was from the relief auditor, who needed to know how a guy could be left in the computer but not be charged room and tax for the night, per GM. Hm.... Sounds fishy, but I know how to do it, and it's a situation that is easily fixable by pretty much anyone at a later time.
Then I got to sleep.

I love the night time!! Late night/early morning. It's like I wake up at that time no matter how long I've been awake prior; I become more energetic. I also think it's interesting that a lot of people who write songs, are active a lot during the night. It's usually quieter, and allows more time for contemplation and prayer. Our ears are more adapt to listening to what God has to say when there's less distractions to block our listening. (Which indicates, it's a good idea to train our ear to listen to God at all hours, inspite of distractions).. It's a great time to meet with God.
The night, has always been special to me, even when I was a little kid. I suppose it kind of makes me feel individualistic also, since the majority of people are asleep, and not busily running around. Night driving, rocks! The most disappointing part of the night though, is if you live in a city, you can't blast music.... yeah extremely disappointing, (unless you're someplace that's sound proof, or work at that hour, special events, holidays, etc..).
What's kind of funny is, it doesn't really matter how long I stay up, (I suppose it would eventually) I just don't get that tired, especially when it's night..
It's like when the sun comes out, (the time when most people wake up), I take that as a sign of going to bed (if I decide to at all, 'cause I still like the day, the sun, events that go on, and hanging with people).. and when it's night, (the time when most people go to bed), I wake up. It doesn't really matter if I were to go to bed early, I'd still be awake, just in bed...
I can't list how many awesome things there are about the night. But I think it's pretty cool how God wires some people for it.

People are starting to stir in my motel. Two guests have come down for coffee. I'll be putting out breakfast in half an hour.
Good thing about the night shift: there's no one around to tell me not to look for stuff on ebay.
Bad thing about the night shift: there's no one around to tell me not to bid on stuff I find on ebay.
I placed a $200 on a tray-type powered mixer for my youth group. It's a Peavey XR1600D -- 16 channels, 300w per side. We currently use a Peavey XR8600 -- 8 channels, 300w per side, and box-type -- the thing that bugs me the most about it. Gain =/= volume control, which is what you get on box-type mixers. Plus we're maxing it out -- no empty channels. And we want extra channels for extra stuff, ya know?

Wow ... this thread has languished a bit.
They gave us a weather radio, and then they put some thick vinyl over our single pane window. I can see the instructions for the radio behind the thick vinyl ....

One downside to working the night shift and being a youth leader: you start off any youth trip with zero sleep. Yeah, it's normal to be exhausted at the end of events, but not before you even leave for it...
I'll be going with our drama team to Fine Arts Festival at the beginning of April. So while they're performing, I'll probably be trying to catch a nap somewhere.

New toy! Acer Aspire One laptop! It's TINY, but it means I don't have the blasted Blockers on the work computer anymore! And now I have WoW to keep me entertained at my motel all night!
I've only had four sessions...
By the end of Session 1, I was Level 11.
Session 2: Level 15
Session 3: Level 17
Session 4: Level 18, just shy of 19 (they shut down the server for maintenance)

its amazing that a show that everyone who sees it loves it didnt get kept on. Its phenomenal. All the characters and their inadequecies and personalities make it sharp and funny and fresh.

Kaylee. It's spelled out on a wall near the end of the pilot: "Kaylee's." Me thinks that was the hatch to her quarters? Or maybe she's just very possessive of the Serenity?

A friend of mine burned the entire Firefly series onto CDs for me as well as Serenity. I have yet to watch any of it, but I'm guessing by people's reactions that I should :p

You do need to watch it. I've been asked if I've seen Serenity. I haven't yet; I'm waiting until after I watch all of Firefly.
I hope to get another episode or two under my belt tonight.

its much advisable to see the whole friefly series before serenity if possible, but you'll still love it either way round

Lately it's been rare that I'm HOME by 3am on my nights off. I've been WoW-ing it up with a couple friends. Then Saturday night/Sunday morning (left their place at 2:30) I spent the next three hours typing up my sermon notes. In Notepad.
I'm downloading Open Office right now so I never have to do that again.

It's like Microsoft Office... but free. It's got programs like MS Office, but more open (where MS is very strict about what it can and can't do, Open Office will read just about any program and you can do a bunch of stuff with it). I got it because I really can't afford to get all the software I need (actually, I'd rather spend the money on my youth group or gear). This was an alternative a friend of mine was raving about.
Google Open Office; the first link should be the official site.

I love OpenOffice. I really like that you can save a word document as a pdf file. It really comes in handy if you have to email someone a document, since it will keep all the formatting the same.

I'm about to set a new personal record...
My church is doing a children's outreach called KidsQuest. We're doing at the Latin Assembly of God in town. I was drafted last-minute to play a very important part: the voice of TJ the Tiger.
This means that my Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons are filled with practice and performance. And I get to work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights...
I woke up at 1 pm today (Friday), have a worship workshop at 10 am, practice starting at 1 pm, KQ going until 8:30-ish, and then work from 11 pm to 7 am.
By the time I get to bed Sunday morning, I'll have been up around 42 hours.
It's amazing what we can push our bodies to do, eh?

I'm a night owl and early riser (because of work) in the same body. I will be awake by 7am probably unless this cold lets me sleep in.

Don't try to beat that record unless you get some sleep first and wake up in the middle of the night w/ insomnia :D
I need to get to bed myself because I get up @ 6:15 am CDT. Gotta love work

Tonight I got to work. My co-worker, also a very good friend and fellow youth leader, had a very simple question:
"Would you like to help us move?"
He and his wife are moving into a new place: his parents are turning their basement into a seperate apartment for them. I spent several days last week helping them break a platform, cut sheet rock, texture, paint, lay linoleum, and other such things. So tomorrow morning after I get off work, I get to grab my truck (which is what they really wanted all along), help them move for a couple hours, grab a few hours sleep, go to a youth leader meeting, probably help them move some more, then shower and work again.
I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.

I woke up at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. It'll probably be 7:30 before I get to go to bed. That's 43 hours.
Right now my brain is soooo fried...
