I've heard of it but don't really know what it is. Can you tell me/us about it?

My sister used skype for a while but then her computer started to run really slow so she tried uninstalling it and it would not leave her computer....she went through the uninstall process several times, but it didn't go away....so I'm scared to try it hehehe... AIM works just fine for me ;)

Have you noticed anything with your computer yet, Brian?

Skype is a free VOIP (pronounced just like it looks ... it is an acronym for Voice Over IP) provider. VOIP is also known as internet telephony. It's a promising technology, and the only reason I don't have it yet is because I just have not gotten around to setting up an account. I think I just need to byte the bullet and do it (that was a pun).

You know how untechie I am, so please excuse these questions if they are really dumb. But how do you talk over the internet? And how do you do videos over it? Just thinking about it is enough to turn my going gray hair white!

you'd have to buy a webcam and microphone

Oh, ok....I think that explains where I've heard of Skype before. I believe Jesse uses that. (My oldest son.)

Thanks, Kelly.

Skype is great. I have used it on my old computer and my new laptop with no problems.

I get to talk to my friends who have moved to the UK and Australia every week for hours and it costs me absolutely nothing. To think we used to use our cell phones and land lines to do this is crazy.

I don't think Tony ever used his cell phone for much besides texting!:D

Am I meant to know what you are talking about since you quoted me?

No, not really. Just slamming Tony and his reliance on texting.

I would if I used it. Don't know if I would if I signed up. I have ....Aaron, what do I use? LOL....Can't remember...looking on desktop...Windows Messaging. If anyone has that, let me know. We can exchange addys.

Does Skype take up lots of space on the computer or make it run slow?

Hey Brian. I entered bfalexander and got a message that it's not a valid addy. Was there supposed to be more to it? You can pm me if you'd like so it's not out there for spammers.

We use skype when my husband's out of state or the country on business. It's awesome! We only have the mic right now. Anyone have a webcam brand they absolutely love? Thanks!
