I thank Him for the gift of endurance - oft mentioned in scripture but little talked of by the church. He has certainly been forging that into me in the last few years.

I also thank God for the gift of Endurance... God's really been teaching me about how important it is for about 5 years, and increasing my depth of knowledge about it all the while. I also think it's strange that so many churches don't even bother teaching on it. (they might in indirect and subtle ways like... "everyone has been going through such rough times, don't give up, etc.." but not many specific ways targeting the issue).

There's more gifts to be thankful for than I can really even list, or think of for that matter. But I'm going to thank God for the gift of grace and the gift of mercy. The gift of mercy because He withholds from us what we DO deserve. And the gift of grace because He gives to us what we Don't deserve - something we haven't earned; unmerited favor. Yes, favor isn't fair. But God offers ALL of us favor, so it's up to us to partake of it for ourselves.

Speaking of gifts... How many people would see a present all beautifully wrapped up, and not even bother being excited or intrigued about it or wanting to rip it apart? (mind you people, who are obsessed with saving the paper and bows :p) God is offereing us His myriad of blessing and gifts (the greatest of course Jesus) and it's like half the time... we aren't even stoked about it. We're like little kids who think our old beat up, falling apart toys are so much more interesting, while we don't even know how much better and awesome the gift is we keep ignoring. God's placed His gifts in our hands - let's not set them aside and ignore them. Let's delve into tearing them open, and be appreciative for what they are... but not just for what they are, For the One who gave them to us... Because the gifts He gives us, will Never compare to how awesome and precious He is. And how incredible it is to be able to just know Him, and be in His presence - and not just that, but to have Him live in our hearts.

And when the whole Christmas season passes, let's not forget that the Christmas season isn't meant just to be observed once a year - but everyday in each of ours hearts, and to/with all those we come in contact with everyday of our lives. We indeed have the Spirit of Christmas with us always - let's live in such a way others see no real difference in us during the holidays - but that this is how we live (are to live), every day of the year.. and it's just a reflection of who we are because we're in Him.

I feel as though I could write this forever....
