Hey ladies! :)

Since it's a new year, and i know a lot of us are trying to focus more on surrendering some things over to the Lord and getting back on track with eating right and getting healthier (thirtieth time's a charm right?! :p)
Well, I've been looking at starting this series of bible study books (Begin with Christ: First Place 4 Health Bible Study) and thought i'd pass along the information about them and see if anyone else would want to go through them too! Here's a link to check out the first book in the series.. You might be able to find them at a local parable store or family christian has them for $15.99 on sale right now.

From what i've read, First Place is a weight loss club (kind of like weight watchers) but puts the focus on putting God first so you can change yourself from the inside out. On the first place website http://www.firstplace4health.com/wps/wcm/connect/first_place/internet/Home/Home_Page, churches around the country offer classes, but #1, i'm kind of a social-phobe and fairly shy when it comes to meeting new people, so going to a strange church, and joining a local meeting isn't for me, and #2, money is a factor, I wouldn't really want to spend the cash for a starter members kit..

anyway, rambling aside! I thought maybe some of you would find this interesting if nothing else :)

Totally, sister! I want to start eating healthier, not to really loose weight..though I'm sure I will. But, I've been thinking a lot about the horrible stuff I put into my body...the 'temple'. I'll totally look into this..maybe I'll get to run by the mall tomorrow to see if FCS has them! =]

this sounds GREAT!!!! i'm like you & not real hip on the idea of going to a strange place with a bunch of strangers to share my WEIGHT issues! :o lol hmmm, i wonder if we could do some kind of board group online study thing with this?? (wonder if there are potential legal issues there, though?) maybe a couple of us buy the book & take turns posting stuff out of the book & whoever wants to do it follow along or something?

I thought about that same thing Cori! :) But I was waiting to see what kind of interest there was before thinking about it too much lol I don't think there'd be much legal issue with it since they make their kits available for anyone to purchase and start a group. I wouldn't have any problem typing some chapters up and posting them here, or even emailing them. Might as well put to good use my 75-80wpm typing skills LOL :p
I ordered my copy today, so i should get it tues or weds. My local stores were out of this title.. of course they had all the other ones, but not this one! Grr :)

I don't have weight as an issue, though I could improve on my veggie load. I do have some other bad health habits to work on, so following along might still be good for me. It will take forever for the book to reach me, so I would need at least some summary notes emailed to me until it comes.

Not a problem Dawn!! I'd be happy to type up the first couple of chapters so you could follow along with us. :)

I would be happy to send you a portion of the cost (of the book) if you are going to be sharing it with us.

Acts of service (as far behind the scenes as possible lol!) is one of my love languages, so no monetary compensation wouldn't be needed! Our getting closer to Him is more important than anything else!! Also, I got the book with a gift card I received, so i wouldn't feel right about taking money for something I didn't really pay for anyway! :)

I almost have all of week 1 typed. Emailing it to people would probably be the best option, as it is 8 or 9 pages long.

You can PM me with your email address if you'd like a copy!

The study is broken down into 7 daily devotion/scripture questions per weekly lessons.

When would we like to start??

I have the first week all typed up and emailed to Dawn and Cori! If anyone else would like to have it, feel free to PM me or email me at heidiej@cox.net

Would we like to start on Sunday, Jan 25th or Monday, Jan 26th? or is that too soon for those of you who ordered the book?

Open to suggestions!! :)

Last call - we are giving up on this?

No, not giving up on it! I have just had a hectic past week with my Grandma passing away and the funeral and such. I planned on starting mine saturday. Feel free to start whenever you want to! I will work on typing up the second chapter and emailing it to you ASAP!

Sounds good. Would it be better to fix a date when we will discuss each week's studies?

i think that's a great idea, dawn! no predetermined time = no deadline = no accountability for cori! lol too easy to procrastinate when there's no set time for discussion & what not....
